Year 7 recently watched a film and live performance by Copperwood Media called "45 seconds and Counting" which focussed on bullying, anti-social behaviour, knife crime and suicide. More
Gifted and Talented students enjoyed a trip to see the Phantom of the Opera at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. This was the first trip organised by Drama and Community and everyone had a brilliant time. More

Gateacre's Young Chefs are taking part in a national competition called 'Cooking for Queen', run by the organisation 'Love British Food'. They had to develop a range of canapes which will be served at a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. More
Y10 science students celebrated victory in an inter-school competition against 5 other teams at St Julies School. The task for Matthew Thomalla, Rebekah De Asha, Kyle Stopford, Kevin Zhan and James Pope was to build a wind turbine. More
‘A’ Level Physics students scooped the first four places in a nuclear physics competition at Liverpool University. Josh Turner, Paul Williamson Richard Shaw and James Kewley took part in a five week masterclass of degree level Science. More

A new Careers Clinic for students from Y9 is open every Monday from 3.30pm-5pm.
It is open to KS4 and KS5 students who can access careers' software and videos and Connexions Direct. They can also get help with application forms, interviews and applying for jobs. Takes place in C123 (Mrs Boyd's room)
