Music and Literacy

Reading in music is encouraged across all year groups. There are numerous opportunities for reading aloud in many of the Powerpoints that accompany the schemes of work, and staff will use these wherever possible.

Year 9

·         Model answers are available to be read in the film music scheme. These include command words and focus on the development our ‘academic word list’ that accompanies our important musical elements

 

Year 10 and Year 11

This follows on from work begun in Year 9 on writing longer answers to question that require the learner to describe how musical elements creates atmosphere, emotion etc. in film. Again, model answers are read aloud by students in the film music scheme. These include command words and focus on the continued development of our ‘academic word list’ that enable students to access extended answer question on the GCSE exam.
