Adlib Industry Day and Bands Night

Another incredible Industry Day for over 50 Gateacre students.

The event is hosted, free of charge, by professional sound and lighting company Adlib who regularly tour with the likes of The Script, 1975, Russell Howard, Jimmy Carr and Rick Astley.

The day is designed to give industry insight to the students who, by working alongside the Adlib team, learned about the production equipment, how it is set up, and the different skills required. They also gained an understanding of the necessary commitment to work in the events industry.

The day began with an Health and Safety briefing and involved all the students assisting in unloading the equipment off the truck and into the theatre at the school. During the equipment set-up, the students were informed about each item and how it all came together to produce a show. In the evening concert, the school had 7 of their bands from various years playing, plus the staff band and established local Headline band Reignmaker (with former Gateacre students as members), fresh off their latest tour supporting The Zutons. The students then remained to assist with the breakdown of all the equipment and the loading of the trucks.

This day is very much a highlight of the school calendar. It’s a wonderful occasion for our students to work alongside professionals and form links, encouraging possible future careers. Being able to involve students in the technical aspect, as well as the performing roles in making this event happen, is both fantastic and memorable. The opportunity to work with such state-of-the-art equipment is a privilege and something our students really remember!
